asked questions:
- What
is an engine short block?
- Answer: A
cylinder block containing crankshaft, cylinder liners, pistons and connecting
rod assemblies and camshaft (if in block) engine oil pan and engine
oil pump are not included
- What
is an engine long block?
- Answer:
A long block is a short block assembly together with a cylinder head assembly
and valve train, front cover, flywheel housing, oil pan and valve cover.
Does not include: water pump, fuel system, injectors, flywheel, exhaust or
air intake systems (turbos) and electrical components.
- What
is a cylinder head?
- Answer:
Cylinder head is either bare without valves. Or as
a complete loaded assembly Complete cylinder head could be
either as good used or reconditioned. Loaded head would be ready to bolt on.
Does not include injection nozzles.
- What
is a complete engine?
- Answer:
Complete engine is nearly ready for installation. Either
good used, new or reconditioned. It is a complete long block plus the fuel
system, water pump, exhaust manifold & turbocharger (if equipped) oil
cooler/s, flywheel housing. Electrical components generally are not included.
Some of the other outer components may or not be reconditioned depending upon
their condition All engines we supply whether used or reconditioned are inspected
and tested for proper operation. (test results supplied with each engine)
Every
engine replacement incurs
many aspects of consideration and costs involved. Discuss all options with
your prospective supplier prior to making a purchase commitment
- What
is a rebuilt or reconditioned engine?
- Answer:
Rebuilt or reconditioned engine describes an engine that has been disassembled,
cleaned, inspected, parts tested for cracks, pressure tested and visually
inspected, whichever is applicable or appropriate. All components have been
inspected, all parts are measured and machined to factory specifications if
necessary. New replacement parts installed as required. All hardware is properly
torqued. If you have the skills and tools necessary to overhaul your own engine
call
us for Diesel engine rebuilding kits, inframe or out of
frame (major)
- What
is The criteria for a good engine core?
- Answer:
To be considered a good engine core it must meet the following: crankshaft
must turn a full 360 degrees in both directions throughout the entire length
of the engine block. Block must have no physical damage (holes or welds) Engine
must be fully assembled, complete (we can be flexible on these 2 points, discuss
with us) Engine core model must match that of the replacement engine.
Burned or fire damaged engines are
not acceptable as cores.
- What
is a good used part?
- Answer:
A good used part is one that is clean, has been inspected and is worthy of
installing in or on your machine. A good used part is one that the provider
sells you that is the correct part, arrives on time and you are happy with
it. It is a part we would not hesitate to use on any of our own machines here
at our shop. A good used part keeps many machines operational at reasonable
cost Some used parts do show some imperfections that do not affect the usefulness
of the part. We take great care in accurately representing condition.
- How can I identify
a JD Powertech™ 300 series engine?
- Answer: JD
300 series Powertech™ and Liter engines are similar but when ordering
parts one must be sure which engine is in use. Here are some hints: Powertech™
engines have model numbers that end in these designations: 150, 151, 180,
220 or 250 additionally the front motor mounts have an L shape bolt patterns
( front mount have 3 bolts) The water pump is mounted on the front right side
as part of the front timing cover and the fuel transfer pump is located towards
to rear of the engine.
